Mairin Hurndall

Is de chúlra Protastúnach mé, as oirthear Bhéal Feirste. D'oibrigh m'athair agus mo sheanathair roimhe sa Longchlós. Is breá liom bheith ag éisteacht le ceol gaelach agus le ceol tire. Táim an-tugtha don stair áitiúil, don stair shóisialta agus do na teangacha ceilteacha. Tá líofacht agam sa Ghaeilge agus sa Bhreathnais agus cur amach agam ar an Urdú fosta. 'Mála Measctha' is ainm don chlár a chuirim i láthair ina mbíonn meascán de agallaimh, de thuairimíocht agus de cheol. Oibrím fosta leis an fhoireann nuachta ar an raidió. Both my father and my grandfather before him worked in the shipyards in Belfast. I am from east Belfast and I come from a Protestant background. I enjoy listening to Irish and country music and have a particular interest in the Celtic languages, local history and social history. I am fluent in both Irish and Welsh and also have an interest in Urdu, having spent some time working in a further education college in London where the majority of students were of Pakistani background. My programme 'Mála Measctha' comprises a mix of interviews, music and discussion and I also work with the news team at the raidió
